Waste Problem

Every minute, a truckload of plastic waste is dumped into the oceans.

The destruction of the planet, our "only home," needs to stop.

A Problem for All of Us

Every year, according to the United Nations, 2 billion tons of solid waste are generated, but only 33% are properly treated. The rest ends up on streets, in rivers, and in the oceans.

Untreated waste contaminates water, soil, and air; poisons animals; causes fires (from decomposing gases); spreads diseases; and worsens social vulnerability. If you haven’t started taking action yet, the time is now.

Toward zero waste
In addition to caring for the planet, the National Solid Waste Plan, established by Decree No. 11,043 on April 13, 2022, mandates that public and private companies properly manage waste. The goal is to eliminate landfills and increase waste recovery to about 50% within 20 years.

Only 4% of urban solid waste is recycled in Brazil

Only 32% of Brazilian municipalities claim to give waste the proper destination

A total of 40% of collected solid waste is sent to areas with high pollution potential

More than 2,000 open dumps are still active and scattered across Brazil

Bem Verde Ambiental takes care of your waste and our future.
